West Moon - Presented by Playliterate Productions of the Okanagan Zone - On All Souls' Night, in a lonely graveyard in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, the spirits of the dead flicker back to life. Lost and disoriented, unsure of where they've been or where they're going, they yearn to know what is happening 'up above' in the village they love.
Escaped Alone – Presented by Williams Lake Studio Theatre of the Central Interior Zone - Three old friends and a neighbour. A summer of afternoons in the backyard. Tea and catastrophe. Caryl Churchill's convention-defying play juxtaposes backyard tea with personal and environmental disaster, exploring themes of politics, crisis, communication, and female endurance.
Corker - Presented by Langley Little Theatre of the Fraser Valley Zone - The story of a dysfunctional family and the developmentally challenged young man who tries to attach himself to it.
Two Rooms – Presented by Nanaimo Theatre Group of the North Island Zone - Provocative and compelling, this arresting work deals with a subject matter much in the minds of contemporary society - the taking of innocent hostages by political terrorists. The play illuminates both the agony of the one detained and also the helpless fury of those who are left behind - loved ones inpatient for something to be done and officials who feel thy must be guided by logic rather than emotion.
Timepiece – Presented by Mercury Players of the South Island Zone - Retired watchmaker Walter is becoming forgetful — or is he just being capricious? His wife Doris wants to downsize. Walter does not. Their adult children Patrick and Karla have lots of advice for Mom and Dad when the siblings are not arguing with each other. While memory loss in seniors is a serious issue, Gonzalez-Risso turns a potentially depressing topic into a compassionate and often hilarious story of family foibles.
